Maria, a pretty Brazilian girl, is engaged in foreign trade business. Recently, on the bus from Dongguan to Guangzhou, she happily shared her story in Guangdong with the interviewer.
According to Maria, she has been in China for almost one year. She lives in Dongguan but often goes to Guangzhou for work. Though commuting between Guangzhou and Dongguan, she enjoys her current life very much.
She said that Guangdong was a beautiful province. For example, in Dongguan where she lives in now, there are Dongguan Avenue, Qifeng Park and the Civic Center Plaza. Colorful flowers blossom all the year around and verdant grass and trees are grown neatly. Water from man-made fountains spurt far to the midair.
At her free time, she likes hanging out with her friends and eating different food. Speaking of her favorite Chinese food, Maria answered hesitation, “steamed buns”. She thinks that steamed buns are definitely one kind of food that everyone likes. One can buy various stuffed buns on stalls down the street. She also found that Dongguan people like drinking tea and cooking delicious soup.
Maria admires Chinese culture a lot. She has a mixed feeling for Chinese characters which are mysterious and full of emotional contents. She hasn’t got to know many novel things in China like tea culture, embroidery and paper-cutting.
Maria said that she had made many Chinese friends. Comparing to people in other cities, she thinks that Guangzhou people understand foreigners better, so she is quite happy living in Guangdong.
She would like to live here permanently. To her, Guangdong is a place to fulfill one’s dream. Ubiquitous neon lights, advertisement signs and haute couture all show the vitality of this place. The public security is good here, which makes her feel stable and safe.
For Maria, life in Guangdong is quite similar to life in her hometown. This international place has many English signposts to well guide foreigners. She said that she could recommend many interesting places and gourmet to any of her friends who would like to travel to Guangdong.
